Here is a list of the Nashville restaurants that are offering takeout or delivery options
Photo via Caffe Nonna on FacebookMuch of the restaurant industry has had to change its business model in a couple of weeks due to COVID-19, and we’re trying to highlight the Nashville places that are attempting to stay open. Each day we will give you a critic’s pick for a restaurant and a dish, as well as a running list of restaurants still open that you can support. Today: Caffé Nonna.
For years, a big part of the attraction of a meal at Caffé Nonna was the intimate dining experience, thanks to restaurant’s charmingly cramped dining room where tables were positioned just a touch too close to each other for some introverts’ comforts. Couples were able to whisper sweet nothings across small tables filled with fantastic classic red-sauce Italian fare, and neighbors’ tables were close enough that you could render judgment on what sauce your fellow diners picked. (“Angel hair with bolognese? Rookie!”)
Under the CoronaDome, this sort of intimate contact is off the table. But that doesn’t mean you can’t set out the candles at your own dining-room table and recreate a romantic meal at Nonna. Chef Dan Maggipinto is truly one of the best guys in the industry, always quick to volunteer for a charity and donate funds to St. Jude’s from sales of his jarred pasta sauces in honor of his daughter Zoe, who passed away from a rare brain cancer.
Caffé Nonna is offering its regular menu for curbside carryout and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, but may I suggest ordering a full pan of Chef Dan’s legendary lasagna from his Family Meal Kit menu. Available in both meaty and veggie options, these $70 pans promise to feed at least four people, but from my experience, you can do that and still save a night’s meal in your freezer for another day. This is especially true if you pair it with a family-size salad to fill up a little before you slice into that cheesy pan of noodles. If it makes you feel better, you can scoot your chair closer to whoever you’re being “Safer at Home” with for the full Nonna experience.
If you’re not savvy with online ordering, call 615-463-0133 to schedule your pickup. It’s always nice to hear a friendly voice.
