Rose Street Cafe in Schmidt Rathskeller building sets opening date – St. Paul Pioneer Press

Rose Street Cafe, in the Schmidt Brewery Rathskeller building, will officially open July 23.

The cafe, the first Rose Street to have a full kitchen, is also offering a sneak peek and a celebration of Bastille Day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 14 and limited hours of operation the following week, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 17-21.

Regular hours for the cafe will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, except Mondays, when the cafe will be closed.

There will be all-day breakfast and lunch offerings including La Colombe coffee, French toast, omelets, an egg-and-cheese croissant, a BLT baguette, avocado toast and a panzanella salad.

“I want to become a fixture in the neighborhood,” said owner John Kraus. “Just like our other locations, I hope to see kids coming by to get a fresh bread or pastry to bring home for supper, and their families joining us regularly for breakfast, brunch and lunch.”

Rose Street has also opened a Bread Lab in the building, a production facility that will double as a space to develop an apprenticeship program, working with local students interested in becoming pastry chefs and bakers.
