Maybelle’s Donuts, one of the original food vendors in the Bottling Department food hall at the Pearl, announced on social media that Dec. 31 was its final day of business.
It was known for specialty doughnuts in a handful of varieties, plus Merit coffee, soft-serve ice cream and fried pies with fruit and custard fillings.
Though the physical space may be going away, Maybelle’s announced on social media that the doughnuts will regularly be featured at Bakery Lorraine locations throughout the area. The businesses share the same ownership group.
A spokeswoman for the Pearl said an announcement for a new concept in the Maybelle’s space will come soon.
