Las Doñas de la Corte has a new queen.
Elizabeth Claire Webster, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Andrew Webster, was crowned Sunday, according to a news release. Her grandparents are the late Capt. and Mrs. Dean E. Webster. and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred B. Jones, the release states.
Olivia Cannon McClanahan was crowned Princess. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Christopher McClanahan. Her grandparents are Mr. Jack McClanahan, Mrs. Tom McKinney and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Douglas Johnson, all of New Orleans, the release states.
Thomas Albert Gates was crowned the reigning King Alonso LXVI. Duane Stevens Herbst served as Chancellor or the Realm, the release states.
The chancery introduced Dr. Paul Alexander Kennedy III as Lord High Steward of the Household. Thomas Albert “Dos” Gates, Jr. served as Lord High Chamberlain, the release states.
David Phillips designed the gowns and trains, with the help of Peggy Ahuja, wardrobe chairman, and her assistant Sheryl McMillan, the release states.
Dressmakers were Georgette Afram, Gloria Bechara, Samia Bechara-Palfreyman, Monica Castillo, Andres Contreras and Lucille Salinas, the release states.
The public is invited to view the hand-beaded gowns and trains worn by the queen, princess and duchesses. The robes will be on display 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 8 through June 2 at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. Viewing will be Tuesday through Sunday, the release states.
